Grant Information and Conditions

1. Award will be made annually and will be titled the IICN / Sanofi-Aventis Annual Travel Award in Clinical Neuroscience. Applicants are advised to begin working on their grant application well in advance of the closing date to provide for arrangement with host institution, and absence from present position
2. Activities eligible for awards will be learning new techniques or skills, experiencing different research practices, exploring collaborative projects, attending short courses etc. and will be directed towards travel outside of the country. The Award will be open to PhD students.
3.Candidates for the Award should be of Specialist Registrar Grade and in a clinical neuroscience position in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Application is not open to those having access to alternate sources of funding.
4. Specification of what items funding may cover will be left open to definition by the applicant but could cover cost of travel, subsistence, registration fees, research etc.
5. Candidates should have secured acceptance from the host institution and will be required to present evidence of this in the application.
6. Accounts of expenditure will be required and should be submitted to the IICN.
7. Application procedure will be by Application Form + Curriculum Vitae + confirmation of acceptance from host institution. Applicants may also be called to interview. Application must be signed by the head of department/consultant or an IICN member. References will be required.
8. Applications may be for amounts up to Euro 11,000 and each application will be judged on its own merits.
9. Provision may be made to combine this grant with another grant. The applicant must inform the Institute immediately should another source of funding become available
10. Post travel, the successful applicant will be required to present their experience/knowledge gained at a meeting of the IICN, and possible publication in the IICN Newsletter .
