The 49th annual meeting of the Irish Neurological Association, under the presidency of Professor Orla Hardiman, will take place on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th May, 2013 at the Biomedical Sciences Institute, Trinity College Dublin.

The Irish Neurological Assocation Meeting is one of a number of events highlighting the EU Commission designated European Month of the Brain.

Guest Lecture

 The IICN is honoured to welcome Professor Ray Dolan, Mary Kinross Professor of Neuropsychiatry and Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, University College London, who will deliver the Callaghan Guest Lecture. The title of his lecture will be “Value encoding in the Brain”

Ray Dolan is clinician scientist with a primary interest in the neurobiology of emotion, how emotion impacts on other components of cognition, and pathologies of emotion including clinical depression. He holds appointments at UCL as Mary Kinross Professor of Neuropsychiatry and Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging. He started his research career in 1981 supported from a Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship. He has benefited from Wellcome Trust funding throughout his career, and currently holds two Strategic Awards and a Senior Investigator Award from the Trust. He has received numerous awards and prizes including the Alexander Von Humboldt Research Award (2004), the Golden Brain Award of the Minerva Foundation (2006), the International Max Planck Research Award (2007). Since 2011 he has been a Visiting Einstein Fellow to the Humboldt University, Berlin. He was made an external member of the Max Planck Society (MPS) in 2012. He was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci) in 2000 and a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2010, and a Member of the Royal Irish Academy (MRIA) in 2011.

The meeting will take place in the Biomedical Sciences Institute, Trinity College, 152 - 160 Pearse Street, Dublin 2. This is located on Pearse Street, on the block between Cumberland Street and Sandwith Street.
