Dr. Stela Lefter, Neuromuscular Research Fellow at Cork University Hospital, Cork, will direct the 2012 Irish Neuromuscular Association Meeting which will take place in The River Lee Hotel, Cork on Saturday May 12th.

Title submission
You are invited to submit cases of interest in all aspects of adult and paediatric neuromuscular disease. As usual, the focus will be on particularly interesting or difficult cases with some good discussion and feedback from the audience. The format of the meeting will be case presentation followed by a guest lecture. Cases should be approximately 15 minutes duration including 5 minutes for discussion.
Please send your case title with authors, affiliations and a brief description of the research/case to info@iicn.ie before the extended deadline on Monday, April 30th 2012
Guest Lecture
The Guest Lecturer will be Prof. Hans H. Goebel, Professor of Neuropathology, Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz, Germany. Prof. Goebel will deliver a lecture entitled "Protein Aggregate Myopathies - an emerging group of neuromuscular diseases".
Professor Hans H. Goebel did his residency in Anatomic Pathology at the Free University of (West) Berlin. He completed his specialty training at Bellevue Hospital/New York University and then moved to Division of Neuropathology at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, USA where he acquired specialist knowledge of and develped his interest in lysosomal and neuromuscular disorders. Prof. Goebel returned to Germany in 1973. He was Head of Neuropathology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and was President of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neuropathologie und Neuroanatomie and of the European Confederation of Neuropathological Societies. He is a member of the editorial or advisory boards of many peer reviewed specialty journals.
His extensive research interests extend to many areas including neuropathology (degenerative diseases, lysosomal diseases), muscle pathology (enzyme-histochemistry, electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry, immunoelectron- microscopy), congenital myopathies, peripheral nerve pathology and retina (ultrastructural pathology in neurodegenerative disorders). Following his official retirement in 2005, he has been a travelling consultant in myopathology at various neuromuscular centres in Germany and abroad.
