Professor Clare Fowler.
Uro-neurology is a rare (and unpopular) specialty! It deals with the bladder from a physician’s neurological approach, not a surgical urologist’s.
Starting initially in clinical neurophysiology I then developed a full time interest in this field, driven to some extent by the large number of neurological patients presenting with bladder problems.  A high proportion of these have MS.  Good management of their symptoms has a very positive effect on their health but presents considerable medical challenges as their bladder control deteriorates with their declining neurological state. This is a group of patients who have been subject to many different research treatments over the years, several of which I shall talk about in my lecture.
Although primarily interested in bladder dysfunction I inevitably became involved in the management of sexual dysfunction in MS I both men and women, and will talk about advances in that area too.
