IICN - Genzyme Pharmaceuticals Neuromuscular Disease

The IICN in conjunction with Genzyme Pharmaceuticals invites applications for the position of a Fellowship Grant in Clinical Neuromuscular Disease.

Grant outline

The aim of this project grant is to undertake a population-based survey of adult neuromuscular disease in the Republic of Ireland, documenting the prevalence of adult neuromuscular disease and developing disease-specific registries. Disease specific care programmes will also be generated.

This is a full time clinical research fellowship with a view to achieving a higher degree. The project will be jointly run through the adult neuromuscular clinics in Cork University Hospital and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. The successful applicant will be employed at Cork University Hospital but will divide their time between the two institutions.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants should:

  • be registered with the Irish Medical Council
  • have clinical training in neurology (ideally at Registrar level)
  • be at an early to mid-stage of career development

Value of grant

The grant is valued at Euro 50,000 per annum for two years
